The name’s Alan - Alan Millar.

I am the pastor (the minister) of an independent evangelical church in South West England.  Prior to moving here in June 2003, for about twenty four years I was one of the pastors of the Congregational Church in the village of Chinnor in Oxfordshire.

My wife and I are Scottish through and through and enjoy living in this beautiful part of South West England. Married for over thirty five years our family of four is grown up and live mainly in the South East of England. We both find great pleasure in walking and there is plenty to be done in this rural part of England with its hills and combes (valleys). As a bonus, the coast (north and south) with its varied paths is only about 45 minutes away by car.

Cream Tea

Cream Teas (scones with cream and jam) are the great thing in this area of England, but of course I have mine with a REAL cup of espresso coffee.

Railways in all shapes and sizes have been an enduring interest - mainline and rural; heritage - standard and narrow guage. As a family, we had our own ‘N Guage’ railway known as Craigmalloch. Perhaps at some future date it will be rebuilt.  Computers and cameras are another shared interest that prove helpful in many different ways, for they are very much part of life in 21st Century Britain.

I have to confess that I was born in the era of “Camp Coffee” and witnessed the birth of instant coffee. Understandably, I think, it was not until I was twenty-four that I had my first cup of coffee. I have still never had a cup of tea! Now as far as I am concerned, ESPRESSO is REAL Coffee.

Espresso World was inspired by having coffee with louis - well not quite literally. One day in November 2008, while “googling” on the internet for information about the church in First Century Sardis, I came across this interesting phrase “Rock Buns, Coffee and the Church in Sardis” and this led me to coffeewithlouis. As they say . . . “the rest is history”.

Note: Camp Coffee is a Scottish product - a glutinous brown substance which consists of water, sugar, 4% coffee essence, and 26% chicory essence.”
