Jesus is King

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Can you picture that vivid, triumphal scene?  The crowd streaming out of Bethany with Jesus, the crowd pouring out of Jerusalem onto the Mount of Olives, and converging on Jesus – King Jesus.

Jesus consciously chose to ride into Jerusalem; however, not as a warring lord, but as the Prince of Peace; to present himself there in the holy city as the Servant King.

What have the events of that day to say to us today?

Created Equal

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Mothering Sunday. Mothers’ Day. Call it what you may, mums are special. This weeked I have watched a short video again and again in preparation for this special day. But before you watch the video, let me remind you that God created men and women equal. This day is also a reminder that it is in the home (and the family of God) that we acquire a sense of worth and learn respect. Surely this is the significance of God’s command to honour your father and mother.

God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Tragically, sin as spoilt not only our relationship with God, but also with one another. Jesus came into the world so that through his life given in death we might become friends with God and through that new relationship know a renewing of our relationships with one another.

Now sit back and enjoy the video:
